Visiting Greece and the Islands of the Aegean will help you appreciate the monumental ancient Greek civilization, their influence on math, science, medicine, architecture, art, theater, philosophy, politics and more!
The Apostle John
Even though our tour to Greece focuses on the many cities visited by the Apostle Paul, we haven’t forgotten about the Apostle John. The Apostle John, also known as John the Beloved and John the Revelator, also traveled as a missionary. He visited the city of Ephesus, just like Paul, and also suffered great persecution because of his testimony. He was brought before the Emperor Domitian in 81 AD, who cast him into a cauldron of boiling oil and forced him to drink poison. God still had plans for John though, and his life was preserved.
After these attempts to kill him failed, Domitian banished John to the Island of Patmos. This barren rocky island in the Aegean Sea would be the place where John would see in vision, the history of the world and particularly the end times and second coming of Jesus Christ. He recorded this vision that we read today as the Book of Revelation.
Join Legacy Tours this May as we travel to the Island of Patmos and visit the Monastery, built on the traditional site, known as the Cave of the Apocalypse, where John lived, studied and wrote.
